Summer 2024 Open Call

Women artists and their self-portraits have a long history in painting. In our Summer 2024 show, Mari asks the printmaker to engage with this tradition of the self-portrait.

However, the self-portrait can be more than a literal and figurative interpretation of the self. How are you represented or found in yourself through the printmaking process?

Open to all women and women-identified persons, regardless of age or nationality.

Works must be created from the printmaking process incorporating paper.

Call Announcement: April 5th, 2024

Final Submission Deadline: May 31st, 2024 11:59 PM

Juror: Courtney Treglia

Entry Fee: $20

Courtney Treglia is an artist and writer born and raised in New York. Spending half of her time in Rochester developed her love of nature, and the other half living near New York City imbued her with a tenacity for opportunity. Courtney has always processed her emotions through art, manifesting life into surreal, fantasy, and sci-fi creatures. Thus giving room for the viewer to connect with the work on their level, not through the lens of the artist. Embracing the experience of the process, her work focuses on traditional techniques of printmaking, collage, and the written word while also reveling in the opposing subject of ethereal and otherworldly creatures. As an educator, creative expression became the bedrock of her advocacy that the arts are necessary for equity and mental health to build a more empathetic world. Her book of poetry and illustrations titled, “Lost Objects & Found Memories” was released under Bryson Publishing in 2024. She is the Assistant to the Chair of the Art Education department at the School of Visual Arts and is getting her M.Ed. at Columbia University in Art and Art Education.
